Karen.. I think No Self Pings has been fixed in the newer versions of WordPress. I’ve never had this happen to me in the recent versions, so the post could be updated to reflect this. Thanks for sharing your list — some good ones in there.

I personally never use any plugins in writing my posts. But that Broken Link Checker may come handy. Who knows if I write the wrong address or something. I’ll give it a try

I started this plugin some time back and Im so happy with this plugin because it lets me interlink my post within single click.
I will say one must have wordpress plugin

I love the Broken Link Checker plug-in. Just make sure that you turn it off if you no longer use it because it attracts quite some CPU usage on the server

Not so much bad, but if you self ping your blog posts then you get a trackback/ping in the comments on the post from yourself!

Search and Replace is a nice plug in. I think I need Scheduled Post so I can write a couple or three articles and scheduled post it.

By the way, why is it bad if your links within your blog pings back?

I tried the Broken Link Checker a few months back but I don’t think it worked for me – maybe I should give it another try, it has been updated a few times since then, also.

But what’s wrong with self-pings?

I admit I am wary of using too many plug-ins on my WordPress installation. Have had a couple of incidents where plug-ins “misbehaved” and causes issues with server resources abuse. Also, with the constant WP upgrades, it can be a pain making sure upgrades are up to date as well.

By the way, when you say , “there is nothing worse than posting on your blog with a link to an earlier post and getting a pingback from your own site” – what’s so horrible about that? it’s just another internal link, IMO.

I use some more like similar posts…it has amazing matching capability and if you have used your tags carefully, you can have a much greater user engagement. Wp-cumulus – fotating animated tag cloud is another one. I don’t use it anymore coz of space requirements but it is pretty cool. Tweetmeme or topsy retweet buttons, and social bookmarking plugins are also a must haves. I recently added post rating system plugin. It is also simplified and pretty good. A great list of plugins. I like the #6 particularly as often I do make post with the same layouts and this will greatly reduce my time when posting similar entries. Like it… Thanks
