Celebrating A Year Of Movies And Friendships At The Apollo Cinema Rhyl

It’s so hard to believe that 12 months ago, I first started posting reviews here on Blazing Minds of the films that I was watching at the Apollo in Rhyl, with the very first film being Captain America: The First Avenger 3D, shortly after that I was adopted by the cinema as their official film reviewer and since then I’ve reviewed over 70 films!

What a fantastic 12 months it’s been since I started doing the Film Reviews, not only have I had chance to review some amazing films and some terrible ones, but I’ve also made some amazing new friends in the Cinema, all of which are truly amazing and are so much fun to be with.

Also in the year of reviewing my reputation of being a “film critic” has took off with leaps and bounds, with the blog becoming more known for its reviews, my Twitter (@BlazingMinds) breaking 30,000+ followers and being interviewed on local radio station PointFM Rhyl and much more.

Building a reputation in Blazing Minds has also allowed me to review upcoming films and DVD releases, with films such as I Against I and The Tunnel, both of which I was able to review recently with “screeners”, hopefully I will have more of these “Exclusive” reviews coming your way soon, as they have been quite popular here on Blazing Minds.

So Back To The Apollo Cinema In Rhyl

Now if you are a regular reader of the blog you will have seen me announce the take over of Apollo Cinemas by Vue Cinemas, this was a bit of a shocker when it first happened and though I wasn’t sure how this would affect the Apollo at the time, I’m glad to say that all the wonderful staff have stayed, the cinema is still amazing and the experience of watching a film there is still a joy, plus I get my latte fix in their coffee counter ;)

Though Vue haven’t changed the Apollo sign, yet, it’s only time that we will probably be seeing the Apollo sign that we all know and love come down to show the Vue sign high up for all to see as they make their way up the coast road towards the cinema.

I’m also hoping that the great events that the Apollo has done in the past such as the Winter Weekend, where @SlappyBear got to meet Spencer Wilding (@BigSpenWilding), Pretty Girl Rock (@PGRofficial) performed and I was interviewed by PointFm Rhyl (@PointFMRhyl) by Dan Porter (@DanPorter) and Mark Pike, will continue as these events are a great way for the community to get involved with their local cinema.

Having events has been a brilliant way for the cinema to show off what it has and what it can do, live broadcasts of concerts, shows such as Dave Bolton performing is fascinating and funny show, just go to show that there is so much more to a modern cinema than just movies.

How Life Can Change In 12 Months

In the last 12 months life has been so much better, not only have I got to do something that I’ve always had an interest in, which is movies, I’ve also met some wonderful new friends, who have helped and encouraged me to continue on track with my love for reviewing.

An Opportunity To Shout Thank You To The Apollo

So now it’s time for me to do the thank you message to everyone that has supported me with my film reviews, blog and Twitter and who have become amazing friends, so deep breath everyone:

A big thanks to: Jodie (@jodesmcgovern), Hannah (@hannahlbrierley), Yasmin, Sue, Dan (Who became our resident music reviewer, @danmillerr), Jamie, Toni, Cara, Joe, Charlie, Nicci (@picklednicci), Emma, Craig, Alison, Catherine, Rich (@havokhq17), Ian, Lee, Christian (@ChristEtheridge), Ben, Jade and Kyle (@kdwoolliscroft).

Without all you, I’d still be in my shell, you have all allowed me to blossom and given me a new lease on life, for this, I love you all xxx

Also thank to everyone else that has supported Blazing Minds, my reviews and has become friends with me on the many social networks and to those that are in the know in the movie business that have been great enough to help me along with my ever growing movie addiction ;)

You are really lucky and talented to go through such a phase in barely any time. Film reviewing is an interesting job, I like the idea of watching a movie closely, disecting it on terms of technicalilty, entertainment, story and execution and let people know your unbiased views about it. Great job I must say.
