2016 was another busy year fro us here at Blazing Minds, there were plenty of great movies to see, theatre show to enjoy, events to cover and competition that you all seemed to really enjoy, such as DVD giveaways and Official Movie Merchandise Giveaways which you all seemed to love.
So now that we have said farewell to 2016 and have started a new year, it’s time for us to check what has been popular on Blazing Minds throughout the year. There certainly seemed to be an interest in older articles on the site as well as one’s written in 2016. OK, so let’s look at the 2016’s 5 Most Viewed Articles in reverse order.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them marked the screenwriting debut of J.K. Rowling, whose beloved Harry Potter books were adapted into the top-grossing film franchise of all time. Her script was inspired by the Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, written by her character Newt Scamander.
The film had some mixed reviews upon its release, but it was a very enjoyable film to see in 3D and we gave it 4 out 5 stars. Before it’s release we were able to bring you lots of Fantastic Beasts news including a live feed direct from the red carpet premiere and even a massive prize giveaway that was over £500 all thanks to working with RealD 3D.
Back in March, we were honoured in being given the chance to check out, what could be, one of the best fan-made Star Trek movies ever made (well so far anyway). The fan made movie took over three years to make and was finally released on February 26th as a free to watch movie on YouTube, yes the movie is free to stream.
Star Trek Horizon was backed via Kickstarter and film maker Tommy Kraft raised $22,600 to bring the project to life. The movie is based around the time of Star Trek: Enterprise, which has a part in the movie to tie it into the film. Having the Enterprise in the movie, though briefly, brings Star Trek Horizon in the Star Trek universe very nicely, giving you the feeling of a movie that fits in nicely with the movies and TV series.
July saw Blazing Minds taking to the pit (the section at the front of a stage) for the chance of exclusive coverage of the Coast 2 Coast event that was spread over 4 afternoon/evenings, with articles such as The Jongleurs Comedy Club, Jason Donovan, Bjorn Again Rhydian, Sioned Terry and of course UB40.
It was a great opportunity to bring our readers some amazing exclusive photographs from the 4 days and out of the four articles written to cover each day, the final day which featured UB40 was the most popular as were the photographs.
We broke the news that Train to Busan was heading to UK cinemas and the website went a little nuts!
Directed by Sang-ho Yeon (The King of Pigs, Seol Station), who also wrote the screenplay for the film, the film tells the story of a deadly viral outbreak that pushes Korea into martial law. As the infection spreads passengers on a bullet train speeding at 200mph from Seoul to Busan must fight for their survival…
Starring Yoo Gong (Like a Dragon, The Age of Shadows), Yu-mi Jeong (Manhole) and Dong-seok Ma (The Good, The Bad and The Weird), the Train to Busan has enjoyed fantastic critical acclaim from festivals, premiering at Cannes Film Festival’s Midnight Screening, winning the Fantasia Film Festival’s audience award and closing London’s Horror Channel FrightFest.
It was the movie that everyone had been eagerly waiting for, a movie that was worthy of being called, “a prequel”. Director Gareth Edwards took the helm for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and brought fans a Star Wars not seen since 1977!
Not only did we bring you a review of the movie in IMAX 3D, but we also teamed up with RealD 3D to bring our readers the chance to win a set of 3D glasses specially designed for the film. Along with the review, we were also granted permission by Cineworld IMAX in Broughton to bring you some exclusive photographs from the midnight screening, where fans flooded to the cinema to be some of the first people to see the film.
Before the movie we had also been invited to be part of the Star Wars Mannequin Challenge at Cineworld, this was a moment that certainly got the excitement level rising for the December release of the film.
Thank you to all our readers this year and for the support you have all given to the site and our Social Media through 2016. So now we’re in 2017, it’s time to start all over again with more reviews, giveaways, events coverage, photographs and video interviews (something new for 2017).
