British independent film actress Ayvianna Snow works almost exclusively in the horror genre, and is currently starring in two exciting new horror releases, Ripper’s Revenge and Video Shop Tales of Terror.

Why horror?
I am drawn to the horror genre as it’s so versatile. Horror works equally well as a period piece, a tongue-in-cheek comedy, a sci-fi.
Can you tell us about your latest films?
-Ripper’s Revenge is a sequel to the 2021 film Ripper Untold, which has been very successful. This was a fictionalised account of the Jack the Ripper murders in Whitechapel in the late nineteenth century. In this sequel, we return to Whitechapel one year later and the killings have begun again, but no-one is sure if Jack The Ripper has returned or if the murders are the work of a copycat killer.
I play the pivotal role of Jessica, a young woman whose untimely demise is a turning point in the lives of several other characters, leading to murder and betrayal.
Video Shop Tales of Terror features a sinister video rental store offering a portal into six individual tales of terror, including Vergessen, where a group of women find themselves trafficked to a Nazi brothel that functions as a honeytrap to blackmail the rich and powerful. When the opportunity to see beyond the shadows of their confinement presents itself to the women, the balance of power begins to shift. I play Ilsa Lall, an unwilling participant in ‘Operation Vergessen’, who, together with her fellow occupants of the ‘Frau Haus’, seeks to escape her confines and exact revenge upon her tormentors by any means possible.
Is there anything specific that you do to get into character?
-It depends on the role. Sometimes it might be a physical thing; a matter of holding myself differently; moving more rigidly or with more poise. Sometimes it’s a vocal thing; speaking in a different accent.
What are some challenges we might not be aware of when working in independent film and what are the benefits? Do you think working within the constraints of a lower budget leads to more creative & interesting output?
-The challenges are manifold; you may not have the funds to hire the location you wanted so you have to make do with a different set, or you may have to shoot the whole film in two weeks instead of two months. But it definitely forces you to be resourceful and come up with creative solutions.
Who would be your ideal film co-star/s?
-It doesn’t necessarily have to be anyone very famous; I just love working with good actors who love the craft and give it their all. Emma Appleton was amazing to work with in LOLA and Dean Kilbey was great in Manfish. They both have weight, gravitas and an attention to detail.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it
be?
–Worry less about other people’s opinions. Trust yourself.
