King of Crime is a new action-packed crime thriller from writer Linda Dunscombe and director Matt Gambell, which brings together the wits of old-school criminals with a new school crime. With interest building regarding the release of the film, I got an opportunity to ask actress Claire King a few questions about the film including; what we can expect, what attracted her to the character and her favourite moment during filming.
You feature in the upcoming crime drama King of Crime, what can we expect from the film?
From the upcoming crime drama King of Crime the audience can expect a cybercrime film with betrayal, action, gangsters, exotic locations and one very screwed up family!
You play Yvonne King in the film; can you tell us a bit about your character and what first attracted you to the role?
The King family (not mine! The characters!) are a family of criminals and there’s certainly no honour amongst these thieves! I play wife and mother Yvonne King, but she’s not your typical mother!
Â
You have portrayed several strong female roles in your career, is this something which you enjoy depicting on the screen?
When I read the script, I was attracted to the character as she committed a heinous crime even before the opening titles rolled! She makes Kim Tate look like a pussycat! I love playing strong characters. I find them more fun to play and as I’m quite tall and strong I don’t often play victims.
What sort of preparation did you do for the role?Â
I’ve played a couple of really nasty characters before so a drew on those to get the character of Yvonne and researched into psychopathic behaviour of this kind, as she really believes she’s doing little wrong!
What was one of your favourite moments during filming?
Working with Mark Wingett is always lovely, and he is fast becoming my professional husband! Shooting the final scenes in Spain was what we were all looking forward to the most, however that particular January was freezing cold with snow, so not particularly conducive to a balmy summer evening on the Costa del Sol!

Do you have any other projects which you are currently working on?
I’m currently filming in Yorkshire which is lovely as I’m Yorkshire born, bred and based! I’ve also got a theatre tour lined up for next year which is really exciting.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to get into acting?
I would advise anyone getting into acting, do it for the love, as there’ll be plenty of times when you’re ‘resting’ so get another skill. Try to do a play where you feel good within the character and can then show off your skills. Put in the hard work, be punctual and polite and do your homework! It’s not all about ‘celebrity’ or how many twitter followers you have!
