FALL is one of those movies that opens up with some amazing shots that will have your heart pounding from the start as two climbers tackle a rock face, I can only imagine if the movie was released in IMAX it would really have you on digging your fingernails into the arms of the chair!
As tragedy strikes, we leap forward almost a year after and find Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) finding solace with a bottle before her dad (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) tells her that she needs to start getting on with her life.
Soon after Becky’s friend Hunter tries to help by showing her a 2,000 feet abandoned radio tower in the desert to help her get back to climbing and to try and get on with her life after the loss of Dan (Mason Gooding), Becky decides that it’s time to take on the challenge.
My first thoughts for FALL were how would the movie keep the tension of two people climbing a 2,000-foot tower for the runtime of 1h 46m but the movie works to build the tension, as they climb the tower and you are given glimpses of bolts falling, rungs on the ladder breaking and the sound of the wind blowing, Hunter has a lack of fear when it comes to hanging off the tower and gets Becky to do the same, these scenes look stunning unless you suffer from vertigo!
After successfully reaching the top, it’s time to descend the tower and this is where things start to go wrong as the tower’s ladder starts to break apart with some stunning shots that really give you the feeling that you are up the tower with Becky and Hunter, FALL certainly has you on the edge of your seat as the pair try to survive the terrifying ordeal that they have got themselves into. With no ladder, there is no way for the pair to get down, panic ensues and the chances of survival start to fall rapidly.
The first 30 minutes of the movie are the set-up for the rest of the movie leaving over an hour of Becky and Hunter stuck at the top of the tower trying to figure out how to get down and how to get a message out to someone to help them, which is kind of ironic that they are up a tower that is too high to be able to get a cell signal.
There are moments when you think the film could be shorter but then we are treated with some great special effects shots from the view from the top of the tower that brings back the reality of the predicament that they are in.
As I mentioned earlier FALL is a movie that is shot and designed for the big screen and with Signature Entertainment releasing it on cinema screens in September it’s a chance to check out the movie on the biggest screen available.

Not long got back from seeing the movie at the Cineworld Unlimited Screening, yes I know I’d already reviewed the movie, but the opportunity of seeing FALL on the big screen was too much to pass up on, I have to say that you get the real feeling of dread and those twinges that you get when you are scared of heights by seeing the film in the cinema.
I had a feeling that FALL would be more intense on the big screen and blimey I was right! If you get the chance to see the movie on the biggest screen you can, then by all means go for it, but make sure you hold on tight!!
