A little while back I brought you the news that SyFy had been rebranded as Sky Sci-Fi and to launch the updated channel there was plenty of new series heading our way, one of which was FROM and as soon as I saw the trailer for this one I had a feeling it would be a show I’d binge watch and I wasn’t wrong.
FROM is brought to viewers by producer John Griffin and exec produced by LOST creators, Jack Bender and Jeff Pinkner, those at home will journey into the unknown with a brand-new series of twists and turns, starring Harold Perrineau (LOST), Catalina Sandino Moreno (A Most Violent Year) and Eion Bailey (Band of Brothers).
The first season of FROM runs over 10 episodes and sees a family becoming trapped in a town that has creatures that come in the night and put fear into the residents that are also trapped in the small American town.
As the show runs through the 10 episodes we learn a little more about Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau) and we have a series of flashback storylines that give us a little more about his family and a little bit about the town, but there really isn’t much given away about the creatures that don’t just feed on their victims, they torment them and rip them to shreds which is shown in some rather graphic effects.
FROM certainly plays on your mind with each episode teasing you more about what is happening and maybe why it is happening, but it’s not until we get closer to the end of season one that things go a little crazy, as the story takes us into even more strangeness that will have you scratching your head and wondering the heck is going on!
This is certainly one of the shows that you could easily be put off from the first episode, but I’ve seen many shows that seem to go that way these days and if you keep watching the show you will no doubt start watching one episode after another. The cast is well chosen for their parts and Perrineau is great as Boyd, the special effects with the gory moments are very nicely done and there are moments that will have the hairs rising on the back of your neck.
FROM certainly has a strange storyline and with the announcement of a second season I am hoping that some of the unanswered questions will be answered and much like LOST things will hopefully be made a little clearer.
