Following hot on the heels of their last release “Juicebox”, The Montagues have impressed us with another absolute banger of a track, from the upcoming EP “Verona Act 1”. 

I woke up at 5 am on a Friday, after going to bed extremely early, so I could give this belter track an excellent undisturbed listen at work. Well, I constantly played it over and over at work. I am always very excited when The Montagues announces new music, and straight away I pre-save it on my Spotify playlist. 

I have known these lads since the end of 2018, the beginning of 2019. Watched them perform live numerous times. The Montagues never fail to bring out brand-new tracks, and what I love about them, they are not afraid to experiment with their music. 

I have got to say I was pretty impressed with how this track started, it is definitely jumping up at their gigs kind of track, with Oli on keyboards and Jonny on bass, as well as the input from Jack Mayall on guitar, and let’s not even by-pass Kyle Parry’s very impressive high pitched voice “I don’t know, I don’t know why”, he could give Justin Hawkins (The Darkness) a run for his money. Absolute class.

I am so impressed by the quality of this track, it is a foot-tapper from the start with the guitar, bass and keyboards when you are slightly fooled into thinking this track may well be a ballad, and then straight into it, and then you find yourself head-banging, and jumping up and down, and of course, the usual singing the track out loud (or is that just me haha).

This track reminds me a little of a couple of their earlier tracks from their first EP, kind of a “Nothing to Everything” and “Side to Side”-esque kind of vibe. And the lads know I love all their music. 

As always when I have gone to their gigs, I am always very impressed by The Montagues’ passion and appreciation for their fans, and the gigs that come with them. They put their absolute everything into them. From initial sound checks to the gigs themselves, they are a band to follow and look out for. You do have to see these lads live at a gig to see how passionate they are. 

Special mention here to Jack Wells on drums, he throws himself into gigs and reminds me of a young version of Taylor Hawkins, with passion and absolute sweatiness. 

They have had continuous support from Dave Monks at BBC Introducing, as well as other radio stations, and to be honest, you cannot fault the lads at all. 

The Montagues are a force to be reckoned with, and I am super excited for the launch of their brand new EP Verona Act 1. 

They have a Spotify listeners following of nearly 600, but I have always said to the lads, they have arena-worthy music, and everyone who is a fan of The Montagues is fully appreciated by them. 

From the lyrics to the melody of the track, it’s a hands in the air, jumping up and down absolute belter of a track. 

Also, the artwork is by their very own band member Oli Harman. Wicked artwork. Love it.

This has to be my favourite track from the EP so far. And I am super excited to hear the whole EP, and blast it on my road trips out and about, and introduce everyone’s ears to their music.
