The Rhyl Pavilion was erupting with laughter on Sunday night as Jimmy Cricket brought his “Great Value For a Tenner Comedy Show” to Rhyl.
The show included special guests, Tom Spencer and Gemma Lawman from the locally made movie “Womble” and the audience also got to see the first showing of a trailer for the film, which also features Bennidorm’s Johnny Vegas, and Coronation Street’s Bruce Jones and Steven Arnold.
So for just £10 theatre goers were entertained by not only the comedy of Jimmy Cricket but also by the Jaxx Martine’s Popstarz Academy with 60 children taking to the stage to perform several dance and musical numbers.
These kids have real talent and the audience loved them.
Paula and Stevie Duncan also took to the stage to bring us some amazing music and Stevie even brought the house down with his dance routine.
The first half of the show was the moment that the audience was show clips from Womble the Movie, with a lovely introduction from Jimmy Cricket about the movie and his time on set during his scenes while filming in Prestatyn.
Keep an eye out for more news on Womble and its release date, which will be later this year.
Carrying on to the second half of the show the younger kids of Jaxx Martine’s Popstarz Academy brought us more entrainment with some excellent tunes.
Then Jimmy became an interviewer, as he introduced Gemma Lawman and Tom Spencer to the stage for a brief interview about Womble and how the film came together with other great cameo roles from Johnny Vegas and Dene Michael.
May Marion was next on the stage with her wonderful vocals and a fantastic medley of Dusty Springfield tracks, a performance that was so lovely to listen to.
Jimmy returned to the stage for his main spot, I you’ve never seen Jimmy on stage before then don’t just think it’s Jimmy In his Left and Right wellis, he came to the stage in a purple suite and we got more than just the jokes.
Jimmy juggles, sings and plays the saxophone, yes folks and he certainly had the audience loving every moment of his performance during the afternoon.
It was great to see Jimmy Cricket perform live and see him being get involved with the community having Jaxx Martine’s Popstarz Academy performing and to have cast from Womble movie on stage. It was also an honour to work with a comedy legend for the day and to be able to get exclusive photographs of his performance during the show.
