Movie Review: All I See Is You starring Blake Lively and Jason Clarke
A while back you may have seen me review The Unseen, a film which was I enjoyed, so when All I See Is You, a film which sounded similar, sprung up for the chance to review, I thought I would give it a look.
All I See Is You stars Blake Lively (The Shallows, The Age of Adaline, Gossip Girl) and Jason Clarke (Everest, Zero Dark Thirty) in a somewhat disturbing and obsessive love story. After being blinded as a child in an almost fatal car crash, Gina (Lively) depends on her husband James (Clarke) to become her eyes, bringing the world of vision that she has lost back to her minds-eye, in turn, this builds on their loving relationship via James’ very vivid descriptions.
While Gina and James enjoy their life together living in Bangkok, their relationship is about to take a turn, when Gina receives a corneal transplant and regains what she has been longing for, her sight!
Now that Gina has her vision back, she starts to experience the world in all its beauty and wonder, but this new found life is having an adverse effect of James as he now finds that her sight is now a threat to their relationship and the life they have together. It’s only later when a turn for the worse happens and Gine starts to lose her sight again that she realises the disturbing reality of their marriage.
All I See Is You is nicely shot and edited, the visual effects of Gina’s sight it very nicely done as we get see the strange world that she sees from her point of view, the change in characters is nicely written as we see both Gina and James change as Gina gains her sight. Although I do have to say that I did find myself losing interest as the film progressed. This is a nicely produced and shot film, but I wasn’t really that interested in the characters as a whole.
If you are a fan of Blake Lively then this is probably going to be a movie that is on your list of films to see, but it’s not one that I would rush to see.
All I See Is You is out on Digital Platforms now and DVD from 5th March 2018, courtesy of Signature Entertainment.
