We are excited to announce some fantastic news for Rhyller Thriller 3, the third instalment of our annual horror film festival in Rhyl, North Wales. The festival celebrates the horror genre through film screenings, special guest appearances, panel discussions, workshops, and a horror-themed market. Since its establishment in 2023, the festival has rapidly become a significant event for horror enthusiasts in the region.
The first Rhyller Thriller festival was on March 11-12, 2023, at Rhyl Town Hall. Organized by Wicked Wales Films in collaboration with festival director Chad Jones, the event aimed to celebrate horror films with connections to Wales and provide a platform for local directors. The festival featured screenings of classic horror films, special guests, panel discussions, workshops, premieres, book signings, and a market offering original and collectable horror memorabilia. Notably, actor Simon Bamford, known for his role as the Cenobite Butterball in “Hellraiser” and “Hellbound: Hellraiser II,” attended the festival and participated in a Q&A session following a screening of “Hellraiser.”
Rhyller Thriller 2: Revenge of the Thriller
Building on the success of the inaugural event, Rhyller Thriller returned with its second instalment, “Rhyller Thriller 2: Revenge of the Thriller,” on May 18, 2024, at Rhyl Town Hall. The festival expanded its offerings with an exciting lineup of films and guests. British writer and director Neil Marshall, renowned for his work on “Dog Soldiers” and “The Descent,” headlined the event. Attendees had the opportunity to watch these films alongside Marshall and participate in a Q&A session. Actor Craig Conway, who appeared in “The Descent” and “Dog Soldiers,” also attended. The festival introduced a short film competition, a world premiere of a new horror series by Welsh director Dylan Guard, and a feature film, “The Pocket Book of Superstitions.” A horror-themed market and a visit from the scare team Central Legion added to the festival’s atmosphere. ?
Upcoming Event: Rhyller Thriller 3
The anticipation continues to build for “Rhyller Thriller 3,” scheduled to take place on August 30-31, 2025, at the Little Theatre in Rhyl. While specific details about the lineup and special guests have yet to be announced, attendees can expect a continuation of the festival’s tradition of showcasing horror films, engaging discussions, workshops, and a vibrant horror-themed market. The event aims to further establish Rhyl as a hub for horror enthusiasts and contribute to the town’s cultural landscape.
