The take pART annual event that is organised by Venue Cymru is just around the corner and the headlining acts have been announced for January 2017.
As with the earlier events, Venue Cymru will host an explosion of arts and literature workshops and events in January 2017, with the return of take pART. Last year’s event was a big success and it attracted around 10,000 people through Venue Cymru’s doors. Next year’s event will be no exception and the organisers have told us, “take pART 8 is looking to be even bigger and better than ever before, with news of three headlining events which are guaranteed to sell out.”
The events will consist of over 200 workshops, drop-in sessions and performances over the weekend, take pART is perfect for those aged 0 to 18-years-old, but as with previous years, the parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents have been getting involved in workshops and craft sessions that take place throughout Venue Cymru.
Headlining take pART 8 in January will be …
Aardman Animations, the Oscar-winning company behind Shaun The Sheep, Wallace & Gromit and Morph return following huge success last January when all the sessions sold out. Book early for a chance to make your own Shaun the Sheep on Saturday 14 January or Gromit on Sunday 15th. All sessions are high demand so you best act quickly to secure your place for this truly ewe-nique experience.
“We had great fun bringing the Aardman characters to Venue Cymru in 2016. The festival had a lovely buzz and the crowds were all very keen to get their hands on Gromit and Shaun the Sheep!
To be working with so many talented entertainers, story tellers and performers was a really great start to the year and we look forward to returning for more animated adventures in 2017” Jim Parkyn, Aardman Senior Model maker
Also joining the event will be children’s author and illustrator, Nick Sharratt who will at Venue Cymru on he Sunday when he offers two sessions in Venue Cymru’s hall. In the first session at 10am, ‘Nick Sharratt Big Draw Along’, Nick will draw and the audience will draw along with him simultaneously. The afternoon session will be a food-themed event called ‘Ketchup on your Cornflakes and Toothpaste on your Toast’. Suitable for 4-11-year-olds, this session with feature Nick reading from his books, drawing, making up a poem – with plenty of laughter and audience participation.
take pART 8 will also give you the chance to pop along and meet children’s Laureate Chris Riddell who has found time in his very busy schedule to come to North Wales to inspire budding authors and illustrators. This will also be the chance for you to ask him a question and he will “live-illustrate” the answer! Chris will also be talking about his laureateship and the inspiration behind some of his much-loved work like Ottoline and Goth Girl on Sunday 15th January at 11.15am and 3pm.
We caught upo with Sarah Ecob, general manager for Venue Cymru, who told us. “We are really excited to be running take pART again. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the leaders and all the participants it’s a magical and joyful weekend.”
