Back in 1984, we were introduced to The Terminator a killing machine on a machine on a mission, then in 1991, we had Judgment Day, now 35 years after he first movie we have a film that we’ve all been waiting for, a proper sequel in Terminator Dark Fate.
More than two decades have passed since Sarah Connor prevented Judgment Day, changed the future, and re-wrote the fate of the human race. Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) is living a simple life in Mexico City with her brother (Diego Boneta) and father when a highly advanced and deadly new Terminator – a Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna) – travels back through time to hunt and kill her. Dani’s survival depends on her joining forces with two warriors: Grace (Mackenzie Davis), an enhanced super-soldier from the future, and a battle-hardened Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). As the Rev-9 ruthlessly destroys everything and everyone in its path on the hunt for Dani, the three are led to a T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) from Sarah’s past that may be their last best hope.

It’s time to thankfully forget the other movies in the franchise, Terminator Dark Fate takes the story on from Judgement Day and how everything changed after the Terminator saved John Connor, but with that comes a change in the timeline for the future, the future never really changes that much, it just heads down a similar path and with a similar outcome.
Now an advanced human, Grace (Mackenzie Davis), heads back in time to protect a new target acquired by the Terminators, this new killing machine called the Rev 9 is a killing machine that is so far advanced from the T-101 that it’s unstoppable and it’s down to Grace to protect Danni (Natalia Reyes) rather than to protect Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton).
After seeing the trailer for the movie I had so many questions, such as why does Sarah hate the T-800 model 101 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) so much, what happened to John (Edward Furlong) and how will all this fit in with the new Terminator, thankfully all these questions are answered, Terminator Dark Fate opens with the interview that a younger Sarah was having in the mental institution from Judgement Day along with the credits fading in and out in with an electronical feel, which looks great.

In Terminator Dark Fate Sarah is on a much different mission that she was the last time we saw her, but she can still certainly kick backside, it’s great to have James Cameron back with this movie and his presence can be felt throught the movie that is brilliantly directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool), this is a movie that is an all balls-out action movie with those wonderful one-liners from Arnie as he reprises his role as the T-800 model 101.
We checked out the IMAX screening at Cineworld in Broughton of Terminator Dark Fate and I have to say that the addition of the massive screen and the IMAX sound certainly added to the experience, the sound itself was amazing with the explosions coming from the IMAX sound system making you feel like you are in the middle of the action, no ratio changes to the screen, but it looks amazing and the bigger the better when it comes to an action movie.
As I mentioned earlier Terminator Dark Fate is a direct sequel to Terminator Judgement Day, finally, so forget the other movies and take in the delights that the team are back to bring us an action movie that is one that fans have been waiting for. We still get that classic Brad Fiedel theme as well, let’s face it we couldn’t have a Terminator movie without it.

Terminator Dark Fate is a fun action movie and if you are a fan of the first two movies then you are really going to enjoy this one, things to look out for are Easter Eggs linking to the first two movies and a cameo from Edward Furlong.
