What a surprise to wake up to this morning as almost from nowhere Paramount Pictures have been quietly making a sequel to the 2008 movie, Cloverfield.

You remember the movie, the one where a group of friends venture deep into the streets of New York on a rescue mission during a rampaging monster attack!

The first movie was made on an estimated budget of $25,000,000 and has become a cult movie for fans of the rampaging creature.

Yep, that’s the one, there was news of a sequel to the movie coming out, with IMDB having a page calling it “Untitled Cloverfield Sequel“, but now we know the name, “10 Cloverfield Lane“.

“The idea came up a long time ago during production. We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible.” ~ J. J. Abrams speaking to Collider

We haven’t got many details on 10 Cloverfield Lane yet, but we do know that J.J. Abrams is back with Bad Robot and Paramount Pictures for the sequel and it also stars John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr.

10 Cloverfield Lane Synopsis

Waking up from a car accident, a young woman finds herself in the basement of a man who says he’s saved her life from a chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable.

Latest news on the movie is that it has a budget of around $100,000,000 and has been directed by Dan Trachtenberg with J.J. Abrams taking the helm as producer. It also seems that the movie is already completed and is ready to go, so Abrams and Paramount certainly kept this one quiet!
