I have to admit that I slightly remember the TV series that the 21 Jump Street is loosely based on, but that’s not a problem as it’s the film I’m reviewing and not the 80’s/90’s TV series.
So here we have two underachieving cops, Schimdt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum), that get kicked down to 21 Jump Street as a kind of punishment for being so useless, there they are greeted by Capt Dickson (Ice Cube) and told of their new assignment, to infiltrate and bring down a drug ring in High school.
And so the all out comedy begins, as the guys enter the High school and attempt, in their own way, to find who is producing and dealing the drugs and shut them down.
21 Jump Street – Blazing Minds Film Review
If you haven’t seen the trailers for the film and you’re expecting a new version of the more serious TV series then you’re in for a big surprise. 21 Jump Street is funny and extremely silly.
There are plenty of gags and funny moments to keep those chuckle muscles going right through the film, mine are still aching now from laughing so much.
Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, really do bounce of one another in the film, with a slight love interest thrown in for good measure and a guessing game on who “Mr Big” could be that’s running the drug ring, it’s a fun movie to watch, ok some of the jokes don’t always work and some of them are stretched a little too much, but it’s a comedy at the end of the day and some jokes will always work better than others.
I liked at one point where they even poked fun at Hollywood, by saying that they had to go down to 21 Jump Street, where they were trying to revamp old stuff from the 80’s and bring it back, now how true is that 😆
Overall Thoughts For 21 Jump Street
If you really want a good laugh and a change from some of the recent, serious, films that have been released then give this a try, OK it’s not going to be everyone’s taste and will probably go down better with the younger audience, but I loved it and haven’t had such a good laugh at a film for ages.
