From time to time it’s great to be able to check out the short independent movies and today I bring you my thoughts on a short Horror film called The Collector which is written and directed by Stuart Wheeldon.
Ten years after losing a young woman called Cathy (Cerys Woodall) to demonic possession, disillusioned Father Raymond (Nigel Barber) must confront his shattered faith when he learns that Sarah (Rachel Prince), a young woman living in the same haunted pub, has stumbled upon the same cursed music box that tormented his past. Racing against time and his inner demons, Father Raymond must save Sarah from the sinister forces that threaten to claim her soul before history repeats itself.

Stuart Wheeldon’s 35-minute short horror certainly works well for its run time, it has that low-budget feeling but still manages to bring the shivers down the spine from the lighting and the eerie effect of a demon speaking through someone else.
I have to say that one thing I do like about Wheeldon’s work is that he shows a passion for his filmmaking and writing and although the productions are on a low budget, The Collector manages to keep you entertained as short horror.
Nigel Barber who you may recognise from Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and The Crown, plays the part of Father Raymond very well along with Rachel Prince as he tries to cast out the demon that thwarted his techniques earlier at the start of the film.

Don’t expect lavish effects in The Collector, this sia film that is all about bringing a story to a small screen, the editing works well and the sound such as the strange voice whispering in the background all adds to the unnerving feelings that you get from start to finish.
The Collector is produced by @nineladiesfilm an award-winning Indie Horror Production Company. The film is currently available to watch on YouTube.
