Bill Roberts: Takes to New Heights for Charity!

Following on from his heroic efforts of 2012, Safety Media & Clogau Gold Chairman and founder Bill Roberts will be looking to take on an even bigger challenge as he is set to take part in the exclusive City Three Peaks Challenge later in the year.

After raising a total of £26,083.50 exceeding the target of £25,000 for the Descent of the Shard, Bill is now looking to go (quite literally) the extra mile in September for the City Three Peaks Challenge. By abseiling down three of the biggest buildings in the City of London, our Chairman hopes to raise £100,000 to help support 9-19 year olds with opportunities they might not otherwise have.

Organised by The Outward Bound Trust in conjunction with The Royal Navy and the Royal Marines Charity, participants will be abseiling down over 1900ft, the equivalent of 142 double-decker buses. Over 30 thrill-seeking adventurers and entrepreneurs will be taking to great heights of London’s ‘The Gherkin’, ‘The Cheesegrater’ and ‘The Walkie Talkie’, all in the name of raising money and awareness for a worthwhile cause.

Since 1941, The Outward Bound Trust have been tirelessly working to educate young people and to help them experience the great outdoors. Speaking to the press, the Chief Executive of The Outward Bound Trust, Nick Barrett, said:

“The opportunity to raise this kind of money in just one day does not come along very often and it will create new, life-changing opportunities for young people across the UK to change their attitudes, skills and behaviours as well as supporting serving personnel, veterans and families through the work of The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.”

The very first Outward Bound course took place in Aberdovey, North Wales, and is a cause close to the heart of our chairman.

Speaking before the event, Bill Roberts said: “…I’m delighted to be involved in an exhilarating and unique opportunity to raise funds for a great cause, for a second time!

There is still plenty of time to get involved before the City Three Peaks challenge on Monday 7 September 2015. You don’t have to brave the heights yourself to support this worthwhile charity, you can help Bill raise his £100,000 share of the £4million total target from the charity by donating anything that you can afford via this link:
