Here at Blazing Minds we love going to the cinema to see films and it’s great to hear the success that Theatr Colwyn in Colwyn Bay has had this Summer with the films that they have been showing.
Theatr Colwyn is Conwy’s only independent cinema and it has celebrated a bumper summer season with record audience numbers of people going to the cinema to see some fantastic movies on the big screen. Theatr Colwyn has told us that 6,184 people watched films at Colwyn Bay, during the school summer holidays which is almost double the figures from the same period in 2015.
This is fantastic news and shows that people still want to see the latest movies, and some of the older releases, on the silver screen.
We’ve been told by the management of Theatr Colwyn that they believe the huge increase in tickets sold this summer was down to the strong programme of new blockbuster movies for family audiences, including The BFG and Finding Dory, combined with prices being kept at just £5 for adults and £4 for Under 15s.
Phil Batty, manager of Theatr Colwyn, the oldest working cinema in the UK, said: “We would like to thank everyone who supported us during the summer and came to see a film here.
“This was record-breaking turnout for us and, if possible, we will continue to hold our tickets prices as low as we can so everyone has the chance to see film at the oldest working cinema in the UK.”
