Candyman: Farewell To The Flesh stars Kelly Rowan (Assassins), Bill Nunn (Spider-man) and Veronica Cartwright (Alien) and directed by the Oscar-winning Bill Condon (Chicago), now thanks to 88 Films the movie has been brought to Blu-ray for horror movie fans.
Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (Blu-ray Review)
Now before I start, I have to say it’s been a good few years since I last watched this horror sequel and the thought of any movie from my past years of watching them on VHS being on Blu-ray always has me jumping for joy, it’s a chance to see the movies how they should really look and hopefully in the best quality of picture and sound.
Let’s start with the picture quality of this Blu-ray release of Candyman 2, the colours are vibrant and outside scenes in the daylight look good, as do the internal scenes, there is a slight grain that can be seen, but that’s probably expected with a High definition Blu-ray (1080p) presentation, but so far so good.
Moving on to the sound, the Blu-ray comes with two sound options, a DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack and an Uncompressed LPCM stereo audio, the 5.1 soundtrack does use the rear speakers in those moments for the loud sounds that make you jump and for some of the atmospheric moments and the stereo audio is well, stereo, but it sounds crisp and still works very well.

As I mentioned earlier, the sequel to the 1992 movie was never going to beat its predecessor, but it still has those moments that have you jumping out of your seat, yes they may be the time old tested ways, such as loud bangs and moments of people and things suddenly appearing from nowhere, but “
The movie is nicely put together, the cast all work well with each other to bring the story together of the Candyman, taking us back to the time that he became the hooked man.
But as with the first movie, Tony Todd certainly steals the scenes that he is within, let’s face it he does in the majority of the movies that he has been in. The movie has some great physical visual effects that in this day and age of CGI still stand the test of time and don’t look bad for a movie that is almost 25 years old.
If you liked the original Candyman then Farewell to the Flesh is certainly a movie you may want to check out, if like me you like to have complete collection and already have the first movie on Blu-ray, then this release from 88 Films is certainly worth adding to your collection, now all we have to do is wait for the 1999 sequel, Day of the Dead to head to Blu-ray.
