Escape Plan 3 (Escape Plan: The Extractors) is heading to UK cinemas on the 5th of July, we check out the third and final movie in the franchise before its UK release.
Escape Plan 3 sees screen legend Sylvester Stallone (The Expendables) back as Ray Breslin, but this time it’s not to escape from a black site prison, but to break in and perform an extraction, as the number one security expert is hired to rescue the kidnapped daughter of a Hong Kong tech mogul from a formidable Latvian prison, but its personal and Breslin’s girlfriend (Jaime King, Sin City) is also captured by the kidnapper (Devon Sawa).
Now he and his team, including Trent DeRosa (Dave Bautista, Guardians of the Galaxy), Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Power) and Max Zhang (Pacific Rim: Uprising) must pull off a deadly rescue mission to confront their sadistic foe and save the hostages before time runs out.
Escape Plan 3 – Third Time’s a Charm?
Back in 2013, the first movie was released with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger were locked in the world’s most secure prison and had to break out! This was one of those movies that I wasn’t expecting much but thoroughly enjoyed and in 2018 when the second movie came out I was really disappointed by it, it didn’t seem to have the feel of the first movie.
When the third in the franchise was announced, I really hoped that it would be better than Escape Plan 2 after watching Escape Plan 3, I can say that it is much better than the previous movie, it’s got some bare bones action and cinematography that make the film look quite gritty.
With Stallone now in his 70s its great to see that he still has that action blood flowing through him and that he does kick ass in the movie, Escape Plan 3 is your typical Stallone movie, but that’s what makes it good to watch, bring in to the equation Dave Bautista reprising his role of Trent DeRosa and you have a movie that may be slow to start but once it finds its feet, it has some great martial arts sequences that are fun to watch.
