Bad Boys For Life throws you into the action in 4DX – Film Review

During a recent trip to the new 4DX at Cineworld in Broughton, I caught the trailer for Bad Boys For Life in 4DX, so I’ve been excited to see the return of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the long-awaited sequel to Bad Boys II.

You may have also read the news about the release coming to Cineworld in 4DX and ScreenX (Sadly not one of those local, as of yet, to check that out), but as I’ve seen a few movies now with the 4DX experience, it’s great to see that the latest in the Bad Boys franchise has opted for this format.

It’s hard to think that the last time we saw Mike Lowery (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) was 17 years ago, now that’s a long gap between movies and Smith and Lowey may have got a little older but that doesn’t distract them from bringing us another action-packed Bad Boys with some Lowery and Burnett quips thrown in for good measure along the way.

With many films in a franchise when we get to the third movie there always seems to be a chance that it just won’t work, many films have stopped after the third simply for that fact, but Bad Boys For Life certainly breaks the mould on that theory, right from the very start of the film the superb “car chase” is superb and add into the mix that you are watching it in 4DX you get every bump and car swerve from the seats as Lowery and Burnett race along the streets of Miami.

Martin Lawrence and Will Smith in Bad Boys for Life

The action doesn’t really let up during the film, there are moments for a chance for you to catch your breath, but these are fairly short-lived before the 4DX experience kicks back in and you are taken further and further into the action of Bad Boys For Life with not only seats jostling you about but you get air blown behind your head with gunshots, huge fans on the wall blow air on you to give you the feeling of racing along, strobe lights are also used for gunshots for the flashes, smoke appears during explosions and water is spread on you with those scenes in the water etc. All this adds to the excitement of this action-packed movie.

Bad Boys For Life – It’s a Rollercoaster Ride for Action

The premise for the film is this is “one last ride” for the Bad Boys and with that, you shouldn’t expect anything less from a film in the franchise, Smith and Lawrence maybe that bit older than when last saw them, but Will Smith still proves that he is a bit of an action man in the film, showing that he still has what it takes to bring Lowey back on the big screen. Lawrence is a bit more subdued with his character, but that’s expected as now the Burnett is a granddad, or “pop pop” as he likes to call it, but with one of Lowery ex-busts escaping prison and out for revenge, the guys have to make the most of a new team and what they know best to survive.

Bad Boys For Life has all the ingredients that the previous two movies had to make them excitable films to watch, the action, the music, the cast and let’s not forget one of those scenes when the camera spins around Smith and Lawrence around an expensive sports car.

Adil and Bilall have done a superb job directing the film and it’s great to see that Smith and Lawrence still have what it takes to bring the Bad Boys back to the big screen, so what more could you ask for with a movie that is action-packed and give you an amazing 4DX experience to put you slap bang in the middle and become part of the action, well how about the possibility of a fourth movie!

Since Bad Boys For Life hit the big screens in the UK on Friday, Sony has already got the wheels in motion and is planning a fourth instalment in the movie franchise. As reported by THR, Sony has hired Bad Boys for Life screenwriter Chris Bremner to whip up the fourth instalment, with the studio assuring that there won’t be another 17-year gap in between films.
