The New Icons are a band hailing from the ever so talented capital of culture city Liverpool. On 27/11/2020, they brought us their new single “She Cries Herself To Sleep”, and also their album “Electric Ghost Graffiti”.

On first listening to their new single “She Cries Herself To Sleep”, I was totally blown away by both the lyrics and music influences contained within the track.

The melody itself comes across as psychedelic and reminded me of The Beatles “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, but more chilled out. Definitely a psychedelic indie vibe to it. I felt quite emotional whilst listening to this track, as a woman, listening to the lyrics of this track, I felt it was very relatable to not only myself, but possibly other women too.

Particular lyrics I am referring to are “She cries Herself to sleep, it’s the only way to keep her from falling apart”. And it has such genius lyrics, and such soulful melody. I could listen to this track over and over again. Amazing.

I’m now enjoying the debut album too, which is also amazing in itself.
