Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead

It’s quite shocking news to hear that award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead this afternoon (Sunday) in his New York City apartment.

 

The cause of death is from an apparent drug overdose has been confirmed by the police. Mr Hoffman was found in the apartment by a friend who had become concerned after being unable to reach him. Investigators found a syringe in his arm and, nearby, an envelope containing what appeared to be heroin.

Hoffman, 46 years old, was found dead at his apartment at 35 Bethune St. in the West Village neighborhood of Manhattan. Quote from an official.

Hoffman won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2005 for his role in “Capote,” in which he portrayed the writer Truman Capote.

He had undergone treatment for drug addiction in the past and spoke in interviews about “falling off the waggon” last year after remaining clean for 23 years.
