Altitude Film Sales has boarded the Aussie shark thriller GREAT WHITE, for international sales and will introduce the new film to buyers at Cannes. Currently, in pre-production, filming is set for later this year.
GREAT WHITE will be directed by Martin Wilson, renowned for his feature style high-end commercials for international brands including Toyota and the ground-breaking “Cowards Punch” TVC campaign with world boxing champion Danny Green. His 2004 TV film Roll was funded distributed by ShowTime and SBS Independent. The screenplay is Michael Boughen, co-writer of Dying Breed starring Nathan Phillips and producer Killer Elite starring Jason Statham and Clive Owen, and the TV series Tomorrow, When The War Began and Move It.
What should have been a tourist trip to remember, quickly turns into a living nightmare when five passengers on a seaplane become stranded, miles away from shore. What follows is a desperate bid for survival as the group try to make it to land before they either run out of supplies or are taken by the man-eating sharks lurking just beneath the surface.
GREAT WHITE is produced by Michael Robertson and Neal Kingston, the team behind Black Water: The Abyss which Altitude is also representing for international sales, The Reef and Black Water. Michael Robertson’s credits include Black Water, The Reef, Road Kill and The Pack which has been described by the LA Times as “one of the rare thrillers to recognize how scary dogs can be”. Neal Kingston’s credits include Nerve, as well as producer on Australia’s longest-running television series Neighbours. Joining the Great White producing team is Chris Veerhuis who was most recently co-producer on the Simon Baker debut feature Breath. Robert Slaviero will serve as an Executive Producer.
“We’re excited to be able to bring this suspenseful survival tale to life and work with the brilliant team at Altitude to add Great White to our growing slate of Aussie genre films,” said Mike Robertson and Neal Kingston.
Mike Runagall from Altitude says, “Great White is a gripping concept-driven survival thriller from a team with a proven track record in high-end suspense filmmaking that pitches a full-on battle with nature and the most terrifying predator known to man.”
