Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Lowrey (Will Smith) return to the big screen with Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth film in the action-packed franchise, in this film the Bad Boys are now on the run after Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano) is accused of being a bad cop and dealing with the drug cartel, now it’s up to Burnett and Lowrey to prove his innocence and untarnish his name and reputation, but in doing so they are also targeted.
With any of the Bad Boys movies you know that there is going to be plenty of comedy and lots of action to make another movie that is exciting to watch, Bad Boys: Ride or Die is no exception as right from the very start of the film Lawrence and Smith bring the humour straight in with a familiar scene of the two in a car racing to get somewhere only to stop off at a store for Burnett to get some ginger ale for an upset stomach.
The pair then head off to Lowrey’s wedding, it’s not long after this that they find out that Captain Howard (who was killed in the previous movie) has been accused of being a crooked cop, the pair receive a video message from Howard that he recorded in case of this situation. The pair now have to find out who is behind the frame-up.
As with the previous films, this one looks bright and vibrant with a great soundtrack and sound mix to make you feel like you are in the middle of the action. It’s been almost 30 years since we were first introduced to Burnett and Lowrey and even after all those years Lawrence and Smith still have that on-screen chemistry that makes their characters work.
Going into a Bad Boys film you know that we are going to get plenty of action and this fourth outing has plenty to keep action fans happy, some nice-looking filming techniques surprised me during the film such as a moment during a shootout where a gun being held gives you a first-person perspective, yes I now we have had that before but this time the camera follows the gun as it is turned around. You get to see a glimpse of this in the trailer as the gun is thrown from Lowrey to Burnett, it looks impressive but let’s hope it’s not a technique which is not overused in films.
I thoroughly enjoyed Bad Boys: Ride or Die it didn’t feel like 1h 56m, it’s a fun film that was great to watch on a hot day in an A/C cooled Cineworld. I’m not sure if Martin Lawrence and Will Smith will return for Bad Boys 5, but Smith said he would return if certain conditions were met.
Does Bad Boys Ride or Die Have a Post-Credit Scene?
You won’t have to sit through the credits for a post-credit scene as the film doesn’t have one, but if you want to show appreciation for all involved with the film you can stay if you want to.
