This film is truly both heartbreaking and inspiring throughout. We best know Steve Carrell for being in comedic roles, so it was quite enlightening to see him in a more serious role. He was both amazing and breathtaking to watch playing David Sheff, Nic’s father. And you truly went through every emotion with him in the film.
Timothee Chalamet plays David’s son Nic Sheff, and what an amazing actor he is in this role. Truly inspirational.
Apparently, Timothee had to lose 25lbs for this role and had a consultant and doctor on set to ensure he came across as realistic and authentic as a drug addict, and he did not disappoint at all.
Beautiful Boy was directed by Felix van Groeningen, and what a fantastic job he did. He really captured both main characters of David and Nic, and their relationship as father and son. He definitely captured the trials and tribulations of how drug addiction can have an effect on those closest to you, and also what happens through relapses and the road to recovery.
Both Steve Carrell and Timothee Chalamet give outstanding performances and really encaptures both their characters in this film. I would highly recommend watching this film to see for yourselves how brilliantly it is written, directed and produced.
