Last night was another in the Cineworld Unlimited Screenings and t was to see the new movie Bombshell a little early prior to its release on the 17th January.
Now I have to say that I wasn’t 100% sure of the story behind Bombshell that stars Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie and an unrecognisable John Lithgow, what I did vaguely know is that the movie is based on the rather powerful and controversial media empire Fox News and of the story of the woman that brought down the man that created the well-known empire.
Going into a movie and not being 100% sure of the story behind a movie is a great way to enjoy something, you can go in not expecting too much from a film and I find I enjoy them more, so with Bombshell, I have to say that I enjoyed the Unlimited Screening, from start to finish.
The film has a stellar cast and I felt that Theron, Kidman and Robbie put on brilliant performances, as did Lithgow who I have to say I really didn’t recognise until he spoke.
It’s certainly a refreshing change from all the action and adventure films that I’ve been seeing lately and ys it is a slowish paced film, but Bombshell kept me interested in the storyline, as they fight to take on the power of Fox News and Roger Ailes (John Lithgow), this is a film that is pretty powerful to watch and is intriguing and interesting as Gretchen Carlson (Nicole Kidman) takes on the media mogul in a fight for justice.
Director Jay Roach (Trumbo, Blown Away) has done a superb job with the suspense throughout the movie and brings out the best with the cast, including those may not have had the bigger parts, but were still memorable in their roles such as Kate McKinnon and Malcolm McDowell as Rupert Murdoch.
Bombshell also stars Emmy® Award winner Kate McKinnon, Golden Globe® nominee Connie Britton, Emmy® Award winner Mark Duplass, Emmy® Award nominee Rob Delaney, Golden Globe® nominee Malcolm McDowell and Academy Award® winner Allison Janney.
This is a powerful movie that has had some controversy after its initial release, but I really enjoyed it, Bombshell is released UK cinemas on the 17th January 2019.
