ITV has announced that the 20th series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! will be filmed at the historic Gwrych Castle, Abergele in North Wales.
It’s been doing the gossip rounds over the last few months on where I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here would be going in the UK and to be honest it’s been hard to keep it all a secret, but now the news is finally out.
The wonderful Gwrych Castle which is only down the road from me is going to be the venue for this year’s very popular reality TV show, the castle which I spent many a day at during my childhood is situated in a tree-lined hillside overlooking the Irish Sea. The atmospheric and spooky ruined castle with its sprawling design and turrets is spread across 250 acres of gardens and grounds.
The adapted version of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! will still be hosted by At & Dec and will go live every night on ITV from the castle this Autumn. As on the regular reality TV series, viewers will see the celebrities undertake gruelling trials and fun-filled challenges to win food and treats in the lead up to one of them being crowned, for the first time ever, King or Queen of the Castle.
Dr Mark Baker, Chair of the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust said “I’m absolutely delighted that I’m A Celebrity has chosen Gwrych Castle to be its UK location for the 2020 series. Gwrych Castle is a beautiful grade I listed 19th county house and a must-see destination for tourists visiting Wales. I’m A Celebrity being here will really help support Gwrych Castle and its ongoing restoration as well as giving the region a much-needed economic boost.”
Lord Elis-Thomas, The Welsh Government Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism said “We’re extremely pleased to welcome such a large production to Wales, offering a chance to showcase a spectacular part of our country to significant audiences across the UK. We’re looking forward to working with the team on this production and hope to use this opportunity to show some of what North Wales has to offer.”
Andrew White, Director Wales, National Lottery Heritage Fund said: “We have been delighted to support Gwrych Castle and it is great to hear it will be having its moment in the limelight. The series will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the beauty of north Wales as well as show how a historic building can engage a modern audience in innovative ways. We hope it will help to boost support for the castle in the long term.”
Richard Cowles, Director of Entertainment at ITV Studios said: “The Australian jungle is such an integral part of the show it was a big challenge to find a UK location where we could continue to deliver what viewers love about I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! But Gwrych will definitely do that; the Castle sits in an amazing and atmospheric setting on a hillside overlooking the Irish Sea. While there will be plenty of changes required as we move from New South Wales in Australia to North Wales in the UK, we are really excited to see how we can adapt the format and make the Castle our new home for a very special 20th series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! this Autumn.”
I’m a Celebrity Rumoured Line Up 2020
ITV has confirmed that they have the final lineup for I’m a Celebrity 2020, but for now here are the rumours of some of the celebrities that may be entering Gwrych Castle in Abergele could be Vernon Kay, Vinnie Jones, Jenny Ryan, Maya Jama, Baga Chipz, Tazmin Outhwaite, Amy Hart, Matt Baker. AJ Pritchard, Eric Cantana, Joe Sugg, Beverly Callard, Jeremy Clarkson, John Barnes, Lucy Fallon, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Susanna Reid.
Here at Blazing Minds, we are over the moon that Gwyrch Castle is hosting I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! which will be starting on the 15th November 2020. Not only is this a great boost for the area, but this is going to be fantastic for the castle as it will be a nice boost for help with the hard work that everyone does to help with funding to try and restore the once majestic delight that stands looking over Abergele.

ITV wants locals to work on I’m a Celebrity 2020
The makers of the hit reality show are looking for regional runners, but don’t all rush to apply yet, there are some stipulations!
The job vacancies for several runner positions have been advertised online via social media and whilst many in Abergele and the surrounding areas will be interested in working on set, there are some job criteria before you can apply.
The advert states that applications will only be accepted from those living in seven North Wales towns or from Chester on the border, so if you do live in Abergele, Llandudno, Conwy, Colwyn Bay, Rhyl, Prestatyn, Wrexham and Chester, then you can apply for the job as a runner as long as you also have six months running experience though.
So how do you apply for the job?
Applicants must state if they are able to drive and if they’re over 21 on their application.

A cover letter must be included in the email which include the following:
- your mobile number
- confirmation of availability
- confirmation you live within 10 miles of one the areas in the advert
- any runner credits
- details of location experience you have as a runner
- where you heard about the job (specify the job site or group)
- names and contact details of two references
The advertisement advises applicants not to contact ITV or relevant agencies with queries.
It states that only those shortlisted for a vacancy will be contacted by project recruiters.
