Following the current success of the award-winning short Wuurm, director Chris Wade teams up again with co-writer Callum Syers for a new short film CAATCH, which continues the tradition of double voweled film titles from Dogbrain Videos.

In a new exclusive on Blazing Minds, we are pleased to bring you the first look at 3 new posters for the film which introduces us to the film’s two main protagonists played by David Abaleke and Sebastian Gede Brendholm.
Director Chris Wade had the following to say about the film “We had an unexpected amount of positive feedback this year for our first short film WUURM. It’s winning numerous awards in a bunch of categories and it’s still making people laugh internationally on the festival circuit!
With WUURM, we were finding our feet and navigating the challenges of shooting something in a small space, scriptwriting in covid, sound design, and trying to make something that purposefully looked like an old B-Movie.
This time around, CAATCH came from the idea of taking something as extremely mundane as a game of catch and flipping it on its head. I came up with the idea after visiting some film festivals this year, where the audience would cheer after every film. I wondered how funny it would be if someone screened the world’s most boring film on purpose and still got an applause, and it snowballed from there.
The film takes place across 7 locations, all organised within a stones throw away from each other. All I can say about it, is that again, it’s absolutely bonkers!
This one has been shot on a new vintage canon FD lens kit I’ve recently built – which has given it a “Texas chainsaw massacre” meets “Seven” vibe.
We’re looking forward to showing off CAATCH when we enter it into festivals early next year. We’ve had a stills photographer with us for the ride, so expect some BTS updates over the next few weeks for some hints at what on earth this is all about.
I think this may be the first film in history about a haunted tennis ball”.
Filming will continue in September and October with a planned 2023 release.
