Cineworld teased us again with their Cineworld Secret Screening 9, scheduled to take place on November 1st. The previous Secret Screening was held on September 27th and featured the movie “The Creator,” which was shown only one day prior to its release. Now, it’s time to speculate on what the next movie could be. The age certificate for the upcoming screening is listed as 15 on the website. While the listed runtime is only 90 minutes, this could be a mere red herring.
I always find secret screenings to be extremely exciting. As we enter the cinema, we have no idea what the movie will be and get ready for a surprise. The Cineworld Secret Screening 9 is open to non-unlimited members too, so now everyone has a chance to experience the same treat that we Unlimited Members get during the Unlimited Secret Screenings from time to time.
With the news of another Secret Screening, we thought we would take the opportunity to see what the movie could be that will be showing.
What could the film be for the Cineworld Secret Screening 9?
Anatomy of a Fall (November 8th) – The Movie Shown at Secret Screening 9
Anatomy of a Fall (French: Anatomie d’une chute) is a 2023 French courtroom drama thriller film directed by Justine Triet from a screenplay co-written by Triet and Arthur Harari. It stars Sandra Hüller as a writer trying to prove her innocence in her husband’s death.
The Marvels (November 10th)
Could we really be getting a Marvel movie as the Secret Screening, well you just never know. Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.” Marvel Studios’ “The Marvels” stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Zawe Ashton, Gary Lewis, Park Seo-joon, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Saagar Shaikh, and Samuel L. Jackson.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (November 17th)
THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES follows a young Coriolanus (Tom Blyth) who is the last hope for his failing lineage, the once-proud Snow family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With his livelihood threatened, Snow is reluctantly assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), a tribute from the impoverished District 12. But after Lucy Gray’s charm captivates the audience of Panem, Snow sees an opportunity to shift their fates. With everything he has worked for hanging in the balance, Snow unites with Lucy Gray to turn the odds in their favour. Battling his instincts for both good and evil, Snow sets out on a race against time to survive and reveal if he will ultimately become a songbird or a snake.
Saltburn (November 17th) – Recently listed as an Unlimited Screening for the 8th November
Many of you who have been heading to the cinema lately will have seen the trailer for this new movie. A student at Oxford University finds himself drawn into the world of a charming and aristocratic classmate, who invites him to his eccentric family’s sprawling estate for a summer never to be forgotten. Written & directed by Academy Award Winner Emerald Fennell
Thanksgiving (November 17th)
We’ve seen horror movies crop up before at a Secret Screening, so we could be getting this one from director Eli Roth. After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the holiday. Picking off residents one by one, what begins as random revenge killings are soon revealed to be part of a larger, sinister holiday plan. Will the town uncover the killer and survive the holidays…or become guests at his twisted holiday dinner table?
Wish (November 24th)
We had Disney and Pixar’s Elemental for the 5th Secret Screening, so we could go down that path again with the new Disney movie Wish. In “Wish,” Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen. Featuring the voices of Academy Award®-winning actor Ariana DeBose as Asha, Chris Pine as Magnifico, and Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino, the film is helmed by Oscar®-winning director Chris Buck (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (“Raya and the Last Dragon”), produced by Peter Del Vecho (“Frozen,” “Frozen 2”) and co-produced by Juan Pablo Reyes (“Encanto”). How about a wildcard for the Cineworld Secret Screening 9?
There have been times when the screenings have been so far in advance, so is my wildcard choice for the Cineworld Secret Screening 9.
Napoleon (November 22nd)
Napoleon from Ridley Scott is a spectacle-filled action epic that details the checkered rise and fall of the iconic French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, played by Oscar®-winner Joaquin Phoenix. Against a stunning backdrop of large-scale filmmaking orchestrated by legendary director Ridley Scott, the film captures Bonaparte’s relentless journey to power through the prism of his addictive, volatile relationship with his one true love, Josephine, showcasing his visionary military and political tactics against some of the most dynamic practical battle sequences ever filmed.
Wonka (December 8th)
Based on the extraordinary character at the center of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, “Wonka” tells the wondrous story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today.
So there you have it folks, some of the possible movies that could be shown at the Cineworld Secret Screening 9 on the 1st of November. Of course, Cineworld could throw us a curve ball and bring us something that we could never expect. As I mentioned earlier you can’t go by the age rating (so we will update that when we have news), the 4th Secret Screening was mentioned to be a 12A but the movie shown was Pixar’s Elemental and the Secret Screening 5 turned out to be the comedy Joy Ride.
