After their outing in their own film, the Minions are back with Gru (Steve Carell) in Despicable Me 3 and they are hoping that he will return to his life of crime and misdemeanours after being fired by the new boss of the Anti-Villian League fire him.

But the little yellow buddies are out of luck as Gru decides to retire from crime and travel to Freedonia to meet his long-lost twin brother, Dru (Steve Carell), for the first time, but things don’t go as Gru has planned as the brothers find themselves in an alliance with the elusive Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker), a former 1980s child star who seeks revenge against the world.

With this third outing for Gru we have very much the same slapstick that we had with the previous movies, but obviously this movie is more family based, with Gru and the “gurls” meeting the long lost brother and the usual mayhem and madness with the minions, although I would have loved to have seen them much more, maybe we will have a Minions 2.

Despicable Me 3 in RealD 3D

So I got to see Despicable Me 3 in 3D, if I get the chance I always like to check out the films in 3D, the 3D in DM3 works very well, with some nice use of depth in many of the scenes and thankfully none of that, “let’s poke you in the face” effects to say, “look the film is in 3D!”.

Despicable is a fun film, very more for the kids than for us big kids, it’s certainly one that works well for a trilogy, the series maybe getting a little tired and short of the visual gags, as well as the vocal ones, but none the less Despicable Me 3 still has its moment.
