Yes folks the Minions from the brilliant Despicable Me movies are getting their own movie and it’s release date is pencilled in for December 2014.

The 3D computer-animated film will be a prequel to the 2010 hit Despicable Me. Illumination Entertainment will be producing the movie for Universal Pictures. Brian Lynch will be writing the story for the little yellow guys and Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda will be directing it.

Produced by Chris Meledandri and Janet Healey, Sandra Bullock will lending her voice talents as the character Scarlet Overkill, the villain of the film, Jon Hamm will voice her husband and inventor, Herb Overkill.

We did see a bit of a teaser for the film  in the ending credits of Despicable Me 2, where three Minions are seen auditioning for the film.

Synospsis: The Minions, breakout stars from “Despicable Me,” are presented in an origin story that showcases their unpredictable personality and physicality, and pairs them with equally memorable human characters. As it turns out, Minions have existed since the beginning of time. They have evolved from single (yellow) cell organisms into the familiar beings we know, and they live for a collective purpose: to seek out and serve the most despicable master they can find. Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock will lead the voice cast of the human characters as Scarlett Overkill, the world’s reigning super-villain of the 1960s.

I’m a big fan of the little yellow Tic-Tacs, so this film is certainly going to be one that I want to see and I know many other adults that will, love it as well as the kids that will be watching it.

And with its Christmas 2014 release, it well be a Christmas movie that will do extremely well in the box office on both sides of the pond, whether we get the release in December here in the UK is another matter, I hope we do.

So are you looking forward to seeing the Minions movie, please let us know?
