Film Review: Drunk Bus on Digital from Blue Finch Film Releasing

In our latest review, we check out the new film released on digital from Blue Finch Film Releasing, as we take a ride on the Drunk Bus.

Michael (Charlie Tahan) is a recent graduate whose post-college plan is derailed when his girlfriend leaves him for a job in New York City. Stuck in Ohio without a new plan of his own, Michael finds himself caught in the endless loop of driving the ‘Drunk Bus’ – the debaucherous late-night campus shuttle that ferries drunk college students from parties to the dorms and back.

When the bus service hires a security guard to watch over the night shift, Michael comes face-to-tattooed-face with Pineapple, a 300-lb punk-rock Samoan who challenges him with a kick in the ass to break the loop and start living or risk driving in circles forever.

As Michael keeps sticking to the same routine every night, his life is very much the route that he is stuck on, but with the introduction of Pineapple, his life starts to change and most likely for the worse as he starts standing up for himself more and more and getting into predicaments.

Along with his problems that he is facing his ex-girlfriend Amy (Sarah Mezzanotte), who wouldn’t have sex with him because God would be watching, is sending texts to get in touch with him, but he just ignores the texts over and over again as Amy sends more trying to make contact with him again until finally one night after a disagreement with Pineapple he decides to reply back to Amy.

Drunk Bus is a film that is certainly a journey not only for Michael as he goes round and round on the campus circuit but also for the viewer as we see Michael change over time, there are some heart-warming moments and sad ones as well, the comedy also has those touches of an Indie feel and sometimes it felt like the early days of Kevin Smith such as the brilliant Clerks.

Don’t expect Drunk Bus to be an all-out party on a bus with lots of craziness as the film is far from it, the film is one that builds on its characters so that you see more to them than just a driver of a bus accompanied by his tattoo faced security guard.

Directors Brandon LaGanke and John Carlucci have put together a film that is worth checking out for an hour and forty minutes.
