A short while back we brought you the new movie news here on Blazing Minds from Lightbulb Film Distribution when they shared with us the official poster and trailer for the upcoming release, Escape And Evasion.
This new film focuses on a soldier returning home from a botched up mission, now angry, bitter and suffering from PTSD. Josh McConville (“Fantasy Island”, “Outlaws”) plays the lead role in this new movie.
After his men are killed in Burma, a lone soldier returns home in search of solace. Hiding a dark secret and confronted by an unrelenting journalist, he’s forced to face the ghosts of his past.
Escape and Evasion will be released across all major streaming and download platforms from September 28 and on DVD on October 26, so we took the time to check out the film prior to its release.
Escape and Evasion isn’t an all-out action film, but the moments that the action takes place certainly bring home the issues of war and the lasting effects on the soldiers, with the film delving into the terrifying and horrific effects of PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) we see the issues that they face and struggle with.
The use of flashbacks works very well to tell the story of what happened in Burma and look really good with the jungle action scenes bringing the action part of the film to light and they are fairly bloody and brutal as well and they bounce back to Seth (Josh McConville) in present-day after he’s back from Burma giving the Escape and Evasion that disorienting feeling that really worked well with the content.
As the PTSD takes hold of Seth and the illusions become more frequent and stronger, it takes a toll on Seth spending time with his daughter that means the world to him, even a simple lunch in a restaurant with her is terrifying as he sees his best friend in army gear screaming at him! It’s a scene that shows what can happen to a man’s mind that has been through so much horror during wartime.
Escape and Evasion is not your run of the mill action film, this is a rather powerful film that brings home the troubles that a soldier with PTSD goes through and how it affects home life, Josh McConville does a superb job as the lead character and Storm Ashwood’s direction works very well throughout the film.
Overall the film is an interesting look at war and it affects on people who go to war and to those that are left behind.
Escape And Evasion will be released on Digital Download from September 28 and on DVD from October 26, both can be pre-ordered now from iTunes.
