Last month we brought you the news from Lightbulb Film Distribution had shared with us the UK theatrical poster and trailer for the new crime thriller, Broadcast Signal Intrusion. Today we bring you a review of the film which will be in UK/EIRE Cinemas from 25th March and on Blu-ray & Digital Download from 28th March.
Following its World Premiere at SXSW, the film has played a string of International genre festivals – including Fantasia, Sitges, FrightFest, Abertoir and Celluloid Screams.
Directed by Jacob Gentry (Synchronicity), the film stars Harry Shum Jr. (Crazy Rich Asians, Glee), Kelley Mack (Shot In The Dark, The Walking Dead) and Chris Sullivan (This Is Us, Agnes).
The film was produced by Greg Newman (Stake Land, Girl On The Third Floor) and co-written by Phil Drinkwater and Tim Woodall. The feature is based on a short made in 2016 of the same name.

Broadcast Signal Intrusion is a bit of a mind-bender of a movie you will see what I mean when you check out for yourselves, including the ending of the movie which I watched a couple of times to work out for myself what was actually happening, but that’s not a bad thing it works well to keep you on your toes.
I have to say I do like the movies that have that unusual twist and Broadcast Signal Intrusion is no exception, right from the start I was hooked, I needed to find out who is the strange masked woman in the videos that have been recorded and what are they saying in the garbled and strange noise that accompanies the freaky looking footage.
Much like Archive 81 did with its story, this movie pulls you into the mystery and it will not only have you wondering what is going on, it also has the ability to make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck while you are watching the movie.
Broadcast Signal Intrusion is certainly one of those films that I was intrigued to watch after seeing the trailer for the first time and thankfully the trailer doesn’t give much away, it’s the strangeness of the film that gives its overall unnerving feeling as we are taken on a journey that will twist and turn along the way, throwing you off your path of finding out what is going on with the Broadcast Signal Intrusion that is appearing on the TV screen.
Harry Shum Jr. plays his part very well throughout the film and you start to wonder is there more to his character than meets the eye when we first meet him, the mystery surrounding the intrusions works well with some dark and sinister-looking lighting for many of the scenes throughout the film that work perfectly.
This isn’t so much a film that will have you leaping out of your skin, but it certainly makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck, especially with the creepy mask.
