Final Destination 5If you have read Blazing Minds for a while you may have seen the review I did some time back for Final Destination 4, last night I got to see the latest movie in the franchise and in glorious eye-popping 3D, those who’ve seen it will know what I mean 😉

So What’s Going On In Final Destination 5?

Final Destination 5 like the other ones in the serious starts off with everything going well and then going extremely bad with nearly everyone being killed, then quickly jumping back to show us that it’s all the premonition of one person.

This time it’s the turn of bus full of people on a suspension bridge which collapses and only a few get off before the bridge crashes down.

Then we know what happens next, each one is slowly hunted down by death and ticked of the list in some gruesome way or another.

Haven’t We Seen This Before?

Quite frankly yes, it’s all the same with the Final Destination movies, but for me the movies still have me cringing at some of the ways death deals with each one of them and as with the previous movie, being in 3D certainly makes you feel a bit uneasy, specially scenes with eyes!

The 3D in this movie is really good and having Steven Quale directing the movie and bringing some of his techniques from working with James Cameron on the mighty Avatar to the movie have made it something to write home about, the 3D is far better than “The Final Destination” it’s not too overpowering but at the same time it works with blood spurting out at you, giving you the urge to duck!

Did I Enjoy The Movie?

Yes I did, I think one of the things that appeals to me with these movies is the anticipation that you have when you are waiting to see how someone is going to be taken out by death and those moments of going “Oh that’s just gross” when they do happen.

I have heard that this is going to be the last in the franchise and the movie does end with a fitting set piece bringing all the movies in full circle and nicely done as well, though there is some gossip of a 6th installment, whether this is true I don’t know.

For me, being a fan of the movies I do think that Final Destination 5 should be the last in the series, with the ending that it had it all tied in nicely and in my point of view another one could spoil the ending and making it pointless.

Overall Rating For Final Destination 5 3D

I’ll give this 8/10 and enjoyable roller coaster ride with some nicely placed shocks, that all builds up to a fun night out.
