We check out the new release from Signature Entertainment with the brutal and somewhat violent movie For the Sake of Vicious which heads to DVD and Digital Platforms on the 19th of April.

It’s Halloween night and nurse Romina (Lora Burke, Poor Agnes) just wants to relax after a hard day. Suddenly all hell breaks loose when desperate Chris (Nick Smyth) breaks in demanding angry justice for wrongdoing from the past. The crazed intruder is owed a debt of blood and wants a mystery confession from his hostage. Then, just as suddenly, a band of masked mercenaries invade the house causing even more mayhem. New alliances will be tested as the occupants struggle to survive a night marked by death. Loaded with guts and gore, here’s the eye-grazing splatter rollercoaster head-on-collision to leave you begging for more.

This is one of those movies that has a bit of a slow start as we are introduced to what will be the key characters of the movie, but as we discover all is not what it seems and although Chris is looking for revenge for the raping of his daughter, the film takes a turn as it movies to being brutal and bloody violent as Chris becomes more intense to get the truth out of the Alan (Colin Paradine) who he believes had raped her.

As we learn more about the incident things move along and a fairly slow pace but never fear things are about to get to the point of taking up the brutality to 11, with blood splattering everywhere as Chris resorts to torturing the truth out of Alan before the house is invaded by a crazed gang!

For The Sake Of Vicious really takes you down a road of shocks and brutal violence and really doesn’t hold back when the action kicks in with almost every household item being used by Chris and Romina to defend themselves from the invaders. There are some stomach-churning moments during this movie, look out for a moment when Romina uses a hammer on one of the attackers, it’s not only gory but it looks damn good with the make-up effects.

When it comes to a “home invasion” style movie For The Sake Of Vicious certainly works well to keep you wondering about who is going to survive and why this is happening. Directors, Gabriel Carrer and Reese Eveneshen have certainly given the film a gritty feel that works well for the subject matter of the story from Gabriel Carrer.

One of the things that stood out to me, beside the blood and gore, was the soundtrack for the film. The music is very electronic with quite a bit of low hum synths that make you feel uneasy, but then there are the tracks that take up the tempo with some Orbital style tracks that work well in the scenes that they can be heard in.

For The Sake Of The Vicious probably isn’t going to be for everyone, especially those that don’t like a load of claret splattering the walls, but with its short run time of 80mins the film is one that is certainly worth checking out.
