Another night at the cinema and last night we headed out to see Frozen 2 at Cineworld in Broughton and to see the film with an extra bit of dimension with the RealD 3D version.
Following on from the 2013 Frozen, Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), Olaf (Josh Gad) and Sven leave Arendelle to travel to an ancient, autumn-bound forest of an enchanted land. They set out to find the origin of Elsa’s powers in order to save their kingdom in the latest Disney animated movie.
Now before I get on to my thoughts I have to say I’m a tad surprised with the mixed reviews that Frozen 2 is getting, yes we all know that the first Frozen was very hyped to the hilt and that showed back in 2013 with some of the reviews, but let’s face it, this is a Disney movie and we have all come to expect a certain feel to the family lead movies hat all ages can enjoy at the cinema or indeed at home together.
Back in 2013 I really enjoyed the first movie, although that “Do you want to build a snowman” song really got to me after hearing it X amount of times almost everywhere and especially at Christmas time, Frozen 2 really doesn’t have that annoying moment and even pokes fun at not only that song, but also “Let it go” in rather a comical scene with Elsa.
During the RealD 3D screening last night it was brilliant to see all ages enjoying the film from the very young (babies) to the grandparents as well, all out for a family treat to the cinema, kids these days do seem to have a short attention span, but Frozen 2 kept the kids in last night’s screening glued to the screen. With some of those wonderful moments of them trying to grab the snowflakes on the screen while wearing their RealD 3D glasses, just so cute.
Frozen 2 looks amazing in 3D, CGI films usually do and the animation in this film is fantastic, you can see the improvements in the technology of the animation since 2013, look out for the scenes with the waterhorse and the way that the water is beautifully animated all with a true feel of depth to make the most out of the RealD 3D technology.
Storywise, Frozen 2, is simple to follow which is great for the smaller kids, it has all the charm of a Disney production, the romance, the comedy (mainly from Olaf) and fantastic music, look out for a fantastic 80s style power-ballad and video style moment from Kristoff, it’s priceless.
If you loved Frozen than you are going to adore Frozen 2, there is really something in there or all ages, make it a family outing and enjoy some quality time with the family watching a Disney treat of a film, also if you’re going to Cineworld check out their new Family Tickets, two adults and two children for £20, now that’s a bargain for a cinema trip.
