We have some new short film news for you today as Ascendants, an Action/Sci-Fi short film written and directed by Leroy Kincaide is now available to watch on Amazon Prime.
It was nominated for an impressive five awards at the Fighting Spirit Film Festival in London, and it scooped up two award wins for “Best British Short Film” and “Best Audience Choice Award”.
Ascendants follows two escaped detainees who are forced into a fight for survival, after being tracked by a government agency looking to re-capture those people with superhuman abilities. Featuring talents such as Eloise Lovell Anderson (Villain, Firecracker, The Bastard Executioner). Giedre Jackyte (Barbie, The Acolyte) Max Cavenham (Marakkar, A hitman in London) and Ermar Alexander (Fast and Furious, Heart of stone).
Leroy Kincaide is the visionary writer and director of “Ascendants.” Leroy’s background comprises of work on Gangs of London, Slow Horses, Citadel and WWE all of which has enabled him to be able to Direct Action in a hard hitting and impactful way.
Not only did he helm the director’s chair, but he also took on the roles of Action Director, Director of Photography and completed all the picture post and VFX for the project. This multi-talented individual played a pivotal role in bringing the world of “Ascendants” to life with just a remarkable 3-person crew.
Ascendants is also a testament to the power of diversity showcasing on screen talents from the UK, Philippines, Lithuania, and Kyrgyzstan. With the lead actor Ermar Alexander holding the esteemed rank of 6th-degree blackbelt in the unique Filipino martial art of ‘Doce Pares Escrima.’ Ermar has earned recognition as one of the top martial artists in the world.
