It has taken me some time to finish reading the incredible hardback book, “Gladiator II,” by John Walsh. As a fan of movies, I found it fascinating to learn about the making of the long-awaited sequel to Ridley Scott‘s film, “Gladiator.”

Part II Gladiator II – The Art and Making of Making the Ridley Scott Film takes us into the design of the sets with some amazing sketches of the sets as they went through the design process to bring us an amazing film on the big screen. Adding to this section is a huge selection of behind-the-scenes photographs of the sets, items and more that make the film look so authentic.
Costume Design is also included in Part II which again includes sketches of the characters and how they would look, plus on-set photographs of how the costumes looked in the film.
The fight sequences looked amazing in Gladiator II, and Part III takes us into the world of the gladiatorial battles that took place in the film, including the stunt arrangements.
The final section of Gladiator II: The Art and Making of the Ridley Scott Film, part IV, is the special effects and visual effects. This section goes to show what was done to bring the film to life, including blue screen with some superb comparison images to show how some of the vast scenes were produced in the final production of the film.
Being a movie fan, Gladiator II: The Art and Making of the Ridley Scott Film is one of those books that a lot of movie fans would like to have in their book collection. John Walsh always brings us some amazing books based on the films we love, and this one is no exception. The book is quality and quantity; I found it hard to put down after I started reading it.
