Now you guys now how much I loved Pacific Rim when I reviewed it here on Blazing Minds and the news of a sequel has been doing the rounds for quite a while, it was even mentioned in gossip flying around shortly after the first movie was being shown in cinemas.
Although the first movie wasn’t a massive success in the cinemas, it made around $400 million in the box office worldwide, but this still hasn’t put a stop to Warner Bros. going ahead with the, yet untitled, sequel.
Pacific Rim 2 will be distributed by Universal Pictures (who Legendary are now paired with since splitting from Warner Bros.), it will actually be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on April 7th, 2017.

Before the release of the movie, Del Toro is working on comic books and and an animated series that will connect the two movies together, which will hopefully bridge the gap, between now and before Pacific Rim 2 is released in 2017.
The great news is, although there was thoughs that didn’t like Pacific Rim and some critics were pretty harsh, the news of the sequel means, as Del Toro himself puts it, “More Kaijus and Jaegers kicking butt!”
So come on dear readers, what are you thoughts to a sequel to Pacific Rim, are you looking forward to it? And what are your thoughts on an animated series to tie the two movies together?
