The last time we saw Harley Quinn was in Suicide Squad and now the sassy and crazy Gotham villain has her own movie with Harley Quinn Birds of Prey 4DX, a movie that right from the very start has that touch of craziness! I headed over to Cineworld to see the latest in the DC movies.
You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? “Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)” is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome has no choice but to team up to take Roman down.
Opening with animated credits with a back story for Harley Quinn you get the feeling that Birds of Prey is certainly going to be a bit of a bonkers film, forget those other DCEU movies, this one takes the gamble to give Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) the film that only this character could have.
The story bounces back and forth between flashbacks to bring you up to speed, which if you do go to the loo during the screening it will become a tad confusing, but you easily catch up, but it works well with the lead character. Harley Quinn Birds of Prey is certainly a film that shows the characters don’t need the male lead superhero/supervillain characters, Harley shows that after her split with “Mr J” and after going completely off the rails by destroying the place that she became Harly Quinn, which is also the place that The Dark Knight dropped Joker in a vat of chemicals.
I have to say that I wasn’t sure about Birds of Prey at first, I was a fan of the TV series back in 2002 that we had years ago, so I was a little intrigued to see how this adaptation of the characters would play out and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the complete madness of the movie.
Harley Quinn Birds of Prey 4DX
4DX has become a stable diet lately in my film diary and Birds of Prey 4DX is another film that gives you the chance to get the feeling of being part of the film, the last few films that I’ve seen in 4DX have been pretty intense with some serious throwing around moments and getting sprayed with water.
Harley Quinn Birds of Prey 4DX is no exception, there are some great moments with the seats kicking in with some chase scenes and those lumber punches during the fight scenes, plus the use of both water mist and sprays along with strobe lighting. Although I have to say the fans aren’t used as much as they could’ve been and there are a couple of scenes that scream out water effects and nothing happened.

But overall the 4DX works well and adds to the thrill of the ride of Harley Quinn Birds of Prey, this isn’t a film that will please everyone and it seems to have become a marmite movie, personally I really enjoyed it, great cast and soundtrack that perfectly suits the theme of the film, Margot Robbie is great as Harley Quinn. It’s going to be interesting now to see if we go any further with the Characters and I would love to see a movie close to the comic book characters.
