In a new Exclusive Interview on Blazing Minds ahead of Horror-on-Sea I got a chance to ask Writer, Producer and Actor Chris Shane Sanders a few questions about the film ‘Bring me a Skin for Dancing In‘
Bring me a Skin for Dancing In will play at Horror-on-Sea on Saturday 11th January 10.00am
Q. Your film has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival. Can you tell us what we can expect from the film?
A. You can expect a fair bit of gore with this movie.
Q. What were some of your influences when writing the script?
A. My work is influenced by classic horror movies like The Blood on Satan’s Claw, Witchfinder General and The Wicker Man.
Q. You play Mark Cushing in the film. Did you have yourself in mind to play the role when writing the script?
A. Yes, I like the idea of playing cameo roles in my movies
Q. What sort of preparation did you do for the role?
A. I studied Peter Lorre and his performance in the movie M. I wanted to make the character as creepy as possible.
Q. What were some of the influences for the look and style of the film?
A. I wanted a Hammer/Tyburn/Amicus feel to the movie.
Q. What were some of your favourite moments during filming?
A. I loved shooting the evening exterior scenes on the moors. Very atmospheric.
Q. Did you experience any issues during filming?
A. The weather was very cold, and we didn’t have any internet connection. We shot the movie inside a very old cottage in the depths of winter in the middle of the Devonshire moors. Very creepy.
Q. What makes stand out as something different in the horror genre?
A. Maybe we went too far with final scene. We just wanted to push the envelope on this movie
Q. What do you hope people take away after watching the film?
A. I’d like to think we’ll shock the audience a bit. We didn’t hold back with the final gore scene
Q. Do you have any other projects which you are currently working on?
A. Yes, I’m in Pre-Production on my eleventh feature called Blood Witch. It’s an old school horror movie influenced again by the Hammer, Tyburn and Amicus production companies.
Q. If someone was looking to direct their own film what advice would you give them?
A. Start with short films and build a loyal network of actors, crew and producers.
