Candy Hart and the Merchant’s Ghost is a new mystery thriller from writer-director Jamie Evans, who has launched a new IndieGoGo campaign to secure funds for filming in 2020
Jamie Evans first conceived of the Candy Hart character at the age of twelve years old. She grew out of a love of Nancy Drew mystery novels and old Scooby-Doo cartoons. Having gone through several evolutions over the years and it wasn’t until 2019 that an opportunity presented itself to finally make the movie real. Teaming up again with It Starts With A Girl… (2019) D.O.P Luke Foxwell and producers Duncan Newham (FreeSprite Media) and Benton Hodges, Jamie is finally able to bring the character of Candy Hart to the world. Audiences are sure to experience thrills, chills and even laughter in a movie that takes the teen detective trope and pushes it into new territory.Â
Candice “Candy” Hart is a bright and intelligent teenage girl who dreams of following in the footsteps of her father as a famous journalist. She has a quick wit, sharp sense of humour and a love of solving mysteries. This all leads to she and her friend Sunita “Sunny” Bannerjee being invited to Eastoft Manor to investigate the supposedly haunted house. What begins as an eye-roll inducing exercise to hunt down a ghost, quickly escalates when the family butler is found murdered and the family’s prize ruby necklace is stolen.
With the stakes raised and the killer seemingly still in the Manor with them, Candy Hart sets out to figure out exactly what happened to the butler and prove once and for all that there is no vengeful spirit haunting the house.Â
The film will feature Faith Everett, Marissa Hussain, Luke Hunter, Emma Galliano, Benton Hodges and Dave Gardner, with filming schedules to begin February 2019.
