It was my first trip to The Mulberry in Conwy for an evening of a live acoustic set with Kyle Parry, accompanied by sister Chrissy, we headed to Conwy for a night of great music and laughter.
Kyle put on a stunning acoustic set with a pure passion for his talent, bringing his own touch to some modern-day classics such as patience and more.
Kyle performed one of my all-time favourite Crowded House tracks, Weather With You and it was blooming brilliant, he could certainly give Tim Finn a ring for his money with his pitch-perfect performance.
Kyle has a wide range of vocal talents and humour, his rendition of The Prince of Bel-Air absolutely brilliant and brought a big grin to my face, o really wasn’t expecting that front he acoustic set, I tip my hat and salute you Kyle for making my night and brightening up my Friday night and giving my chuckle muscles damn workout, the crossover between songs was faultlessly done with sheer skill.
Nothing beats a small venue for live music that chance of an intimate performance with great music and a fun atmosphere and Kyle certainly blew the crowd out of the water with the nights performance, right from the start Kyle brought his own style to each and every song, even throwing in some humour and mimicking the style of the bands as he performed their songs.
It’s great to see Kyle live and I’d been promising him that I’d check out his acoustic set when he popped into the Phase Radio Wales studio for the 24 hour show we did, I’m so glad I finally caught Kyle’s performance it’s not only a joy to watch but also an absolute joy to hear such a stunning artist perform in a local venue.
I have to say that The Mulberry is an amazing looking place its design is modern, yet has an olde type twist to it with its decor, look out for the upside-down boat near the bar, it’s a very unusual thing to see, the prices aren’t too bad for the drinks and the food of which both are delicious, if you like your Ale then I would recommend the “Old Tom” but take heed from the warning you will get from the staff that it is rather strong with a 8.5% alcohol level, but by gosh is it tasty.
Now my next mission is to see Kyle with the rest of The Montagues at one of their upcoming gigs.
