Here at Blazing Minds, we loved Ari Aster’s Hereditary when it came out and so today we’re pleased to bring you the news of his latest movie Midsommar and its UK release date.
This Summer, Entertainment Film Distributors will release Midsommar, directed & written by Ari Aster and starring Florence Pugh (Fighting With My Family, The Little Drummer Girl), Will Poulter (Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Detroit), Jack Reynor (Sing Street, Free Fire) and William Jackson Harper (The Good Place). Director Ari Aster’s follow up to last year’s breakout success, Hereditary, will open in cinemas nationwide on 5 July 2019.
Dani (Florence Pugh) and Christian (Jack Reynor) are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends (Will Poulter and William Jackson Harper) on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village.
What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing. From the visionary mind of Ari Aster comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairytale where a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight.
