The World’s End is the final film starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy (also known as the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy or the Cornetto trilogy)
Yes folks we’ve got to the end of the trilogy and what an exciting ride it’s been, the previous movies were all time classic comedies and Shaun of the Dead has to be my favourite of the previous movies, but would The World’s End stand up and be worthy of the trilogy!
It’s a Pub Crawl To The World’s End With A Difference
So we have a group of blokes, led by Simon Pegg, reattempting an epic pub crawl during an alien invasion, what could possibly go wrong.
Edgar Wright has done a superb job with the movie, it has everything you could want in a film, pub crawling, mails bonding, romance, hand to hand combat (some with bar stools as boxing gloves) and the fate of the world in the hands of a bunch of drunks.
Despite the slow start of the film, which is mainly introductions to the characters and bit of a back story to quest for 60 pints in 12 pubs and making it all the way to The World’s End.
Wright and Pegg have done a brilliant job with the writing and the characters Gary King (Simon Pegg) and Andrew Knightly (Nick Frost) are a change from the previous films as Frost is more the straight man and Pegg is the complete fool, this works very well.
With its one liners and some rather funny set action pieces, the film has proven that the team behind the Cornetto Trilogy, really know how to pull the punches and have the audience laughing out loud.
There were plenty of people laughing on the night I saw the film.
Overall Thoughts For The World’s End
A great end to the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, it’s funny, daft, well written and also has a good soundtrack. Even if you’re not a big fan of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, you’ll enjoy this one.
