Friday 13th March proved to be a lucky omen for a constellation of new stars of the business world at the prestigious Network She International Women’s Day awards night.
Sarah Kearsley-Wooler MBE, Fundraising Manager at Hope House Children’s Hospices gave an inspirational and moving presentation at the awards night when the winners of 10 closely contended categories of finalists from across the United Kindom were announced at the glittering ceremony held at the prestigious Crowne Plaza, Chester.
Sarah said she was thrilled to be at the awards night especially as a celebration of International Women’s day when the achievements of women were being recognised across the world.
Founder and director of Network She Ruth Lloyd Williams set the scene explaining what International Women’s Day was about, the theme this year being “Make it Happen” and paying tribute to the business women, winners and finalists alike who, having excelled and succeeded in their chosen field or sector were Making it Happen and are an inspiration to everyone
Ruth said, “We are thrilled to be able to create a platform for women to be recognised and rewarded for their hard work and achievements,
It never ceases to amaze me as to what women achieve especially when you read the inspirational stories of each of our nominees. Each year it becomes increasingly difficult for the judges to pick out just one winner because all of the women nominated are stars in their own right.
This year’s awards attracted entries from across Britain and as the evening unfolded there were live tweets featured on screens at the award venue highlighing the national social media activity the event was generatting.

The Network She Foundation is always seeking to identify young women and girls who are showing great character, leadership and who work to develop and support peers as well as those less fortunate than themselves.
On the evening Hannah Roberts from Wrexham became the first unsuspecting young lady, who had no idea she was going to receive the new Special Recognition Award acknowledging and rewarding her, for her work as part of a project which makes a real difference to the lives of the disadvantaged young people it helps. As a member of the Wrexham Warehouse Team, she is showing herself to already be a young woman of influence
The evening of entertainment raised over £2,200 which will be shared between Hope House Children’s Hospices and the Network She Foundation.
Commenting on the evening founder Ruth said, “The feedback we have had from those attending has been fantastic and we have already had sponsors pledging support for next year’s award. We cannot thank our sponsors and supporters enough for helping to put the awards in such a high calibre.”
She added the evening was not just about awards but a celebration of all businesses and making new contacts and of course “Making a Difference”
