The 2017 Oscars were hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, on Sunday night with the ceremony airing from 11:10 pm on Sky Oscars (Sky Channel 304).
Alex Zane took a look at the movies hoping to win an award before the live coverage of the 89th Academy Awards in Los Angeles from the Red Carpet starts at 11:30 pm. With the Oscars coverage starting at 1:30 am.
As with previous years here at Blazing Minds, we were tweeting and updating the website live throughout the night with updates from the Oscars.
The night was long as we tweeted live and joined in with the Oscars fun via the various hashtags and announced the winners thoughout the night and into the early hours, right up until around 5 am in the morning.
There were several surprises, such as Suicide Squad winning an Oscar and the 14 Oscar Nominated La La Land not doing as well as we all expected, but still managed to get 6 Oscars, but this could have been down to the backlash that the film had received prior to the awards, which was a terrible shame.
Bonnie and Clyde Rob La La Land of Best Picture
Even more shocking during the Oscars was the announcement for Best Picture when Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty came onto the stage to announce the winner, but upon opening the envelope, Beatty wasn’t sure of what he was reading and Dunaway announced La La Land as Best Picture, it was shortly announced that it was, in fact, Moonlight that had won the Best Picture in the 2017 Oscars!
Host Jimmy Kimmel brought some great humour to the show and he even tweeted Donald Trump and it went crazy with the ReTweets:
