In some movie news on Blazing Minds today, production has officially wrapped on Zombie Plane, the new high-octane action-comedy starring Vanilla Ice, Sophie Monk, Chuck Norris, Ice-T, Sir Bob Geldof, Brian Austin Green, among many, many others.
International hip-hop and screen icon Ice-T shot his scenes on Australia’s Gold Coast, alongside Australian acting royalty, Stephen Curry, and a surprise cameo by none other than one of the country’s most high-profile & successful media personalities, Kyle Sandilands.
With the final scenes now shot, Zombie Plane will hit screens later this year, with final release dates to be announced shortly. The US will be headed up by Entertainment Squad and its Australian theatrical release through Radioactive Pictures.
In the world of Zombie Plane, celebrities are seen by day as the faces we know and love, but by night they are saving the world from under-wraps attacks. Led by Commander Chuck Norris, they stand between world peace and humanity’s destruction.
With the strong musical themes, the film’s soundtrack includes tracks produced by Vanilla Ice himself, Ice-T and many others of the key cast, who are also musicians.
“I am excited to see this high-octane thrill ride of laughs and action come to life, and I know the audience will be just as excited,” said producer Jess Butland of Radioactive Pictures.
This film marks the first collaboration between Australia’s Radioactive Pictures and U.S.-based Entertainment Squad which was founded by veteran producer Shaked Berenson, whose films frequently blend horror, humor, and subversion—including Slaxx, Big Ass Spider!, Turbo Kid, and The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot.
“As a genre, horror has always been a powerful way to blend social commentary with outrageous entertainment,” Mr Berenson said. “Zombie Plane carries that torch with its absurd premise and sharp satire. We embrace the weird, the wild, and the unexpected!”
Radioactive Pictures is an Australian production and distribution company founded by Jessica Butland. Recent releases include heartfelt drama Ruby’s Choice, Australian horror The Red, UK Sci-fi/Drama Around the Sun and John Soto’s Action/Thriller Avarice.
Entertainment Squad, founded by veteran producer Shaked Berenson (Turbo Kid, Tales of Halloween). Recent productions include the Shudder Original Slaxx, and the critically acclaimed horror-comedy Summoning Sylvia and the upcoming cop buddy-comedy, Orange Justice.
